The fall of Afghanistan’s military and government have paved the way for the Islamist group, the Taliban. This takeover sounded like a nightmare to many. While people from all over the world are expressing grief for the miserable fate of Afghans, these innocent civilians are experiencing the ordeal. Among them are the vulnerable groups, such as women, the Hazara community, Hindus and Sikhs. The Taliban has reportedly declared a ‘General Amnesty’ in Afghanistan.
Enamullah Samangani, a member of the Taliban’s cultural commission says, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan with full dignity and honesty has announced a complete amnesty for all Afghanistan, especially those who were with the opposition or supported the occupiers for years and recently.” He further says, “The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is ready to provide women with environment to work and study, and the presence of women in different (government) structures according to Islamic law and in accordance with our cultural values.”

Everyday distressing incidents can be heard from Taliban occupied Afghanistan. People are rushing to the Kabul airport, in an attempt to escape the horrific regime under the Taliban. According to Sky News, people along with their family including kids are daily risking their life amidst the gunfire of Taliban’s soldiers.
Narrating an unfortunate incident, a British official says, ‘It was terrible, women were throwing their babies over the razor wire, asking British soldiers to take them, some got caught in the wire.’
He further adds, ‘I’m worried for my men, I’m counselling some, everyone cried last night.’
Various countries are carrying out their rescue missions and announcing benefits for the refugees. The ground reality in Afghanistan remains appalling.
